The company ... does not exist

We have a customer who will intermittently see an error saying "The company (company name) does not exist" when logging into NAV 2013 over a VPN. Some times they will see it when they are already logged in, but usually they see it when first logging in. Obviouslly the company does exist and other people are working in it ok at the same time.

I have seen it happen once myself when connecting to a database running in a VM in Azure but apart from that it has been limited to a single user. The fact that both times it's occured have been when using a fairly slow connection makes me think this may be related.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this error before I log it with Microsoft?

Navision tries to find the last used company. If we are working on different databases with different company names then we generally get this kind of message.

My client is experiencing the same problem. There is only one db and one company. This appears to be a NAV 2013 problem.

How is the client opening NAV? Desktop link?
We potentially found that the properties of the shortcut link may be causing the problem.

    Example:
    Error message:

The company "Abc Company" does not exist.

You have the Company named as: ABC Company

Check the Target in the shortcut properties. The shortcut here had: Abc Company. We've changed it to ABC Company. So far, no problems.
