How to use the Payment Journal to post and print receipts

Hi Guys, I am currently using the payment journal to post and print receipts. This is working fine but my question now is that can there be payments done for a service for example for the next 3 years or even 5 years. Currently I set up a fixed amount to be paid yearly. Please I need your help on a straight forward and effective way to implement this and also how will this affect the reporting?
