Installation of NAV 2013 and .net 4.5

Hi, I have a client where we are implementing NAV 2013.
On the clients computer .net 4.0 are already installed. When NAV 2013 is installed on the client’s computer the .net version is upgraded to 4.5.
The problem is that the clients have other application installed which, according to the customer, is unable to run with .net 4.5.
What to do?
1) Is it possible to ignore the upgrade to .net 4.5 in the installation
2) Is it possible to run NAV 2013 with .net 4.0

But AFAIK a 4.0 application should run with 4.5
