Style Sheets in NAV 2013

If you download the Style Sheet Tool you have a very easy and quite remarkable tool for creating powerful Style Sheets.

For NAV 2009, that is.

The tool is delivered from Microsoft "as is" so in order for you to be able to use it in NAV 2013 you'd need to transform its forms to pages - a relatively straightforward job.

Before I did that I wanted to verify that Style Sheets created in NAV 2009 would work in NAV 2013. And they don't.

But if you compare the default Word Style Sheets from the two versions you'll see that the differences are actually miniscule: about 30 lines added as a single block right at the bottom of the NAV 2013 Style Sheet. Therefore it should be relatively straight forward to modify codeunit 680 - if you have any clue what's actually going on in that codeunit. And I haven't.

So here's a suggestion: if someone'll try to fix codeunit 680, I'll do the pages - and we will have a Style Sheet Tool 2013! \:D/

We've done this as part of another add on we did for 2009 which relied on the stylesheet tool. It's still in the process of being upgraded at the moment but the stylesheet side of it is done.

I'm not sure if/how we're planning to release it seperately from this other addon though.

What's the status of your add-on?

I had a brief mail exchange with the guy who actually created the Style Sheet functionality, but he doesn't seem interested in upgrading it to 2013 :(

Have you seen this thread NAV 2013 and Style Sheet Tools? Jasminka (Microsoft employee) shared some details.
