Item Journal--> No. series issue

I created an entry in Item Journal. I gave it a custom Document No. I made sure that No. series for the Item Journal allows manual No. & default No. to be entered. However, whenever I try to post it, I get the following error.

document no. must be GEOIJNL000001 in Item journal line Journal Template Name = ITEM, Journal Batch name = DEFAULT, Line No. = 2000

If I change the document no to the one mentioned above, it lets me post it.

Any idea why the manual No. wont work for Item Journal No. series???

This is what the No. series looks like.

IJNL-GEN	Item Journal	GEOIJNL000001	GEOIJNL010000	01/24/13	GEOIJNL000001	YES	Yes	No

You must have specified the "No. Series" in "ITEM JOURNAL BATCHES"...

OMG...OMG OMG....it was defined in the Item Journal batches. I removed it and it worked!!! =D>

Just out of curiosity, what is the logic behind it. Why did I have to remove it from there in order for it to make it work??? I mean in the No. series itself, Manual No. was checked off, so shouldn't the system automatically take the no. if it is entered by the user.

You have a valid question but what I saw was that this "Manual Nos." works good with orders or invoices but in case of journals it doesnt allow us ...
