Duplicate edit button

Hello,
I have a page of type "card" that contains some fields and nested subpages. I'm having two problems with this page.
1) In the "Manage" group, there are 2 "Edit" buttons showing up. Pressing either one puts the page into edit mode. Any idea why it would be creating a 2nd edit button?
2) Ideally, the page should always be in edit mode and the view/edit options shouldn't show up at all. Is there a way to hide the manage group and set the page into edit mode? I found a post that had a fairly displeasing workaround for putting the page into edit mode (forcing a CTRL + SHIFT + E), but I'd like a more elegant solution if possible.
