Problem with creating a layout from sections

Hello,

I just started an apprenticeship with a navision development company and while the programming part comes fairly naturally, the report design is really giving me trouble.
Right now, I am designing a report for a customer who uses Nav 2009 R2. They will be using the RTC, so I need to create a layout.
I design the sections, currently I am only making some alterations to the sales invoice header. Specifically I add some fields like the Order Number from the Sales Invoice Header, like I would for a classic report. After I am done, I use the "Create Layout" functionality to create the layout.
Then I save the layout and the report and try to run it and it displays an error message:

Microsoft Dynamics NAV
Der Server '*Server Address here*' ist derzeit nicht verfügbar, oder die Verbindung wurde getrennt. Möchten Sie die Verbindung erneut herstellen?
Ja Nein

That's german for , can't reach the server, shall I try to reconnect? However I chose it crashes the RTC with the message, that the server is not reachable. This however happens only with reports I changed.

So... can anyone give me a hint on what I am doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bassically you don't want to use "Create Layout Suggestion" for document reports. The "Create Layout Suggestion" report transformation only works for very simple reports.
And Document reports don't fall in the category of simple.

Write me a private message, then I will help you get started creating Reports for RTC.

I'm also offering RDLC Report Training, ping me if you are interested. Thanks to the 700 NAV developers that have now already been at my training. You know you can always call if you have any RDLC report issues :-)
