Changing key in virtual table

Hi I need add the key in to virtual table - Date table,

Virtual talbes do not exist in our database so we cannot modify them

so tell my, how i can do group my record using "Period Name" field from virtual Date table?

One way can be to create another table (with same structure as Date and create a key on Period Name), populate the records (on the fly) into this new table from Date before using them.
