NAV 2013 VS 2010 and report design

With NAV 2009 and VS 2008, when I pressed the view layout, VS opened in a nice easy to follow layout.
With NAV 2013 and VS 2010 Premium, when I open up an existing report, I get 2 separate tabs for the layout and the report.xsd.
By undocking and creating a new vertical tab, I can show both at ones time, and by showing the document outline Window I can better tell what fields have been used and which field I have selected.
The VS help about shows the product details as Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010.
Is this just the way NAV2013 report development works, or can I set up better default settings?
