Questions regarding security setup

I am currently setting up the user roles. I would like to get your advice regarding the below requirements:

1. General Journal: only accounting manager has the permission to post the journal; accounting user can edit the journal, but not post journal lines.

2. Setup window (GL Setup/Inventory Setup): only managers are allowed to modifty the setup window.

May I know whether it is possible to achieve the above goals by setting up user roles?
If it is, would you please let me know which role shall I select or modify?

Do it with the help of a field(Post General Journal) in User setup and give the permission to manager only.You need to add the code to check permission by help of this field.

Create a new role having those forms and remove modify permission and assign the roles to account user.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. It is really helpful.

I have one more question. After assigning roles to a user, I got a warning message when trying to login using the user's account.

"You dont have permission to read the profile table"

Do you have any idea why I got the warning?
Is there anyway to remove the warning?
