Barcoding/ADSC question

We have a client that has a need to be able to use wireless scanners to handle recieving (items with lot numbers, but not serialized), transfer orders, and production journal entries. It looks like the basic ADCS functionality in NAV is intended for Warehouse management, and the client does not want to go that route (with darn good reason given their specific processes).

So, is it possible to leverage the ADCS module to handle non Warehouse Management tasks like this, or is there a better canned implementation that isn't massively invasive (Lanham - I'm looking at you)?

Thanks in advance

Use the Lanham ADCS. They have a module called ACE (forgot what it mean) Warehousing that does not require full WHM implementation. However, if you're using lot and serial numbers, full WHM will be required.

For the record, NAV ADCS out of the box is crap.

Thanks I appreciate the answer even though I must be discouraged by it.

They do need lot numbers, but not serial numbers and full WHM would get me tarred and feathered at this particular client.

I agree with your technical evaluation of out of the box ADCS. Unless I get some other suggestions it looks like I'll have to see what might be do-able using out of the box as a jumping off point.

Please, Please let there be other suggestions. [-o<

We have a client who uses custom ADCS miniform handlers (but no changes to the ADCS "engine"), without WM, Without Lanham, by WITH lot/sn tracking. It's not so bad, but is a bit "fragile". :D

ADCS does look like it got some love from MS for 2013, though; so maybe it will be more stable and more "forgiving" going forward...

Hi - you could have a look at our product - it is not invasive at all, works with any location configuration (anything from no locations defined to full WMS) and does not rely on ADCS at all. It handles production journals and transfer orders (as well as all other warehouse tasks). See http://www.dynms.com/products/nav_handheld_mobile_warehouse.html
