Installation issue

I have one XP pro workstation where the RTC will not run. Classic client runs fine. The RTC brings up the appropriate role center but then tells me it has encountered a problem and needs to close. The event log shows event 5000 in the application log:

Since the error references .NET error, I have completely uninstalled and re-installed all .NET framework versions.

Install and application both being run as domain admin. No errors during install.

Still getting the error.

Any help appreciated.

    Which version of NAV are you using?

    NAV2009R2 require .NET framework 3.5
    NAV2013 require .NET framework 4.5

    This is NAV2009 R2 - Framework 3.5 installed.

    New info: With VS remote debug the unhandled securityexception error is reported as: "requested registry access is not allowed"

    I am logged in as domain admin - should be enough permissions for any kind of registry access so I am not sure what to make of this.
    What would Elvis do?
