Hello,

A webservice can be used to get info in and out of NAV.
Are there users necessary in the license to use webservices?
Does every user need a license to use a webservice?
What if there are 2 webservices defined?

Thanks in advance for your info.

You need the Light-User license for each named user using the webservices. No multiplexing/proxiing... If the users are external, you can buy External Connector whcih will cover unlimited exteral named users.

Of course, do not forget to have correct number of SQL CALs or per Processor license...

    Thanks a lot kine,

I have trying to locate this information with Microsoft from past 2 weeks, but no satisfactory reply from them.

Your information gave me much more clarity in Web user licensing part.

    Regards,

Depends on what you mean with "full user". If I také into account NAV 2009 licensing, full user means for me the concurrent user session, which gives you right to use NAV client to connect to the database/NST. "Light user" is user, accessing NAV from outside NAV client, it means through webservices or through direct access to the NAV database e.g. from Excel. It is name user, not concurrent.

if u connect to sql server with one single network ad user, you can use that account to setup a connection string for a membership provider in your web.config which points to another membership store, aka asp .net user database.

no licensing issues where that type of architecture is concerned, i've checked with my vendor who could easily say, 'oh no you have to pay for every user...'.

Multiplexing and proxiing are not possible in Microsoft licensing....
