Manufacturing : Item tracking issue

poppinspoppins Member Posts: 647
Hi everyone,

I have to setup a manufacturing module in Nav 2009 for a customer that buys rolls of ropes and sell them by meter...

The problem is that his customers usually don't know how many meters they actually need...so he allows them to take an entire rope and then return the rest of it when they finish their work...
He wants to keep track of the use of each roll : how many meters were used and how many meters are remaining...

Is it possible to setup this???and how???

Any suggestion would be a great help :)

    Hi poppins,

You can manage it by using Lot tracking on Item.

    One can follow below steps:
    1) Define Item and make "Base Unit of Measure" as "Meter","Roll" as "Purchase Unit of Measure" and "Item Tracking Code" for Lot.
    2) When you buy Such Item, Lot No will be required to define. Inventory will be shown in "Meter" on Item Card. Item Ledger Entry will be created in Meter. ILE is always created in "Base Unit of Measure".
    3) When you sell such Item, again you will required to define Lot No. detail.
    4) At any point of time, you see Open Item Ledger Entries for such Item that will be your stock available from different Lot No.
It will show you how much was Quantity (Quantity Field) of Perticular "Lot No." and out of that how much is "Remaining Quantity" ("Remaining Quantity" of "Lot No." for that Item.

if reply is solved your problem then please donot forget to mark it as solved.
