Large Proprietary Mfg installations?

Is anyone running Navision Financials with Manufacturing (15,000 items) on the proprietary (C/SIDE) database (not SQL) with more than 200 users?
We were advised to go with the SQL server for more than 70 users. During our testing, we have discovered performance challenges running the "Calculate Regenerative Plan" (MRP Regeneration) on the SQL database. We are exploring our options. The C/SIDE database may perform better running MRP, but we have heard it may have performance difficulties with a larger number of users.
Does anyone have any experience with this or advice?
