We are trying to restore a navision backup (NF 2.60 D) into a Navision Sql database (SQL 2000 on Win 2000) the size of the normal navision database is 20 GB there is 45 GB free space on the drive where the sql database is located, but we still got a "not enough space error" sql error.

if you have any idea on how to solve this problem please respond

regards

Peter

The reason might be that the SQL Server Transaction Log is located on the same disk. If it is just the same size as your database you do not have enough space, have you??

I recommend to get a bigger harddisk or move the transactionlog via the MMC to a different drive.

    Kind regards

When restoring data and build up indices there are a lot of transactions to do. After saving the transaction logs to another medium you should use a service plan to save the transaction logs each 10 or 15 minutes and delete all
logfiles which are older than your regular performed database backup. That would minimize the disk space filled with transaction logs. This tip of our nsc helped us in a similar case.

You can also turn off transaction logging during the restore.
