I am trying to setup Warehouse location with Require Put-away and Require Pick options checked, but when I post a Purchase order with no Put-away document no error occurs.
It may seem like a stupid question, but when you make the purchase order are you selecting the location that you have set up with required put-away? Although I don't think it should, :-k Navision will allow you to post to an empty location field.
If you do have these granules there should be a putaway document created automatically when you post the receipt of the items. :-k
I use warehouse management so maybe my process is a little different. I have to make a recepit document for the expected receipt date and when I post that document it creates a put-away for me.
If you can give more details maybe i can be of more help.
There are no automatically generated put-away documents (neither inventory nor warehouse put-aways). I'm not too familiar with the interaction between warehouse management and Inventory since they have been moved to a common section Warehouse.
However it is reasonable to expect that when a warehouse is setup to REQUIRE Put-Away or Require Pick you shouldn't be able to post a Purchase Receipt or a Sales Shipment without creating put-away/pick documents. I wonder if this is a BUG or there's some sort of a reasonable explanation for this behaviour.
In Warehouse Management it will show that you have the item in inventory, but will not let you use it unless it is available in a location.
This didn't happen when I used a new location with Put-Away and Pick checked though, I could use it just fine and without an error message.
If you are not using WMS the put-away document is created from the Functions - Create inventory Put-Away/Pick. (You know this)
Maybe someone else has more ideas on this, without WMS... :-s
Also I apologize, The document I was referring to was the Put-Away which is automatically created when you register the receive document in WMS, this will not be created automatically otherwise.
just processed a purchase order with an item to be received at a location.
my location has the following options activated: require receive and require putaway.
here's my flow
release my purchase order
create whse receipt.
post whse receipt. on posting whse receipt, it generates a putaway document automatically.
then i can if i wish post my purchase order, which has already acknowledged the receipt of the goods, i.e. qty received= XX
btw, i tested using 4.0
seems to be working fine except if i missed something...
I am trying to setup Warehouse location with Require Put-away and Require Pick options checked, but when I post a Purchase order with no Put-away document no error occurs.
So shouldn't the program prevent you from posting if you are required to put it away first? :-k
I know that if you use other settings the functionality changes... I just don't think that iwan100's case was planned for in basic Navision.
I suppose that this could be solved with a simple development, but i think that it should already be there in the base code. That's all I'm trying to say.
However, I agree with you that require receive will solve the situation.
Jondoba is right, in our specific situation Require Receipt is not checked.
We want to have put-away document without a warehouse receipt.
Of course we can solve this with a bit of development, however we do not wish to go against the intent of standard Navision. Do you guys think that it is totaly unreasonable to have a put-away without receipt or that Navision has not been cater for this situation?

You have the require receive activated, do you get an error if you try to post prior to registereing the receipt?

so u will need to post the receipt first, thereby generating the putaway document.
But they don't have that activated...
