Server Configuration and NAV 2009 R2

Dear All,

How to install and Configure NAV 2009 R2 (NAV Server) on the IBM Server (specification given below) to receive the best performance through it. The Concurrent user is 5. Server OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition. SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition.

IBM System x 3650 M3
PN : 7945I4A
Two Way Rack
Intel Xeon E5 2609 (6 Core) Processor,
2.40 GHz, 10 MB Cache,
1066 MHz, 2x4GB Memory,
4x500GB , 2.5in HS SAS
Multi Burner DRIVE, Integrated RAID 01

    That's not exactly what I'd consider the appropriate SQL box for NAV. Drives are wrong type and not enough to build out the desired arrays. Those 500 GB drives are "near line" 7200 RPM disk.
    There are no bugs - only undocumented features.

    Servr configurations can be a black art and people (IT Experts) can be opinionated about what is best. However, for a 5 user system, this seems overkill thus fit for the job IMPO.

    Ultimately, the server will be hosting a SQL Database, so you can check generic specs of that requirement. You only need to factor in that there will be many small writes (so RAID 5 is out) and perhaps add more cores if you are running multiple NAV service tiers (NSTs). Again, for 5 users, this is over the top unless I have missed something?
