Technical Upgrade from 5 SP 1 to 2009 Sp1

Hi, I am trying to find out the best procedure to complete a technical upgrade for a client to 2009 SP1. I am running this process to get Jet Reports Express running on their data. Also I want to upgrade to 2009 Sp1 because they are using a scribe version which is only compatable with this version.
Is the only way to complete this by uninstalling and reinstall NAV 2009 on the server and Client. Or can I copy some files over instead. I have tried this with
Dbm.dll
fin.exe
finhlink.exe
finsql.exe
nc_netb.dll
nc_tcp.dll
cn_tcps.dll
ndbcs.dll
slave.exe
