When I try to open the NAV2013 database by the Nav 2013 development environment , I get the message :

'LAPTOP-FC\SQL2012' server can not be found. Try again later or contact your system administrator.

From the NAV 2013 windows client and webclient I'm able to connect!

Also from Nav 2009 R2 classic I'm able to connect to the 'LAPTOP-FC\SQL2012' server instance and create database for NAV 2009.

All software is installed on same laptop. (Windows 7 Ultimate)
The default sql server is SQL 2008 SP3.
I created new instance for SQL2012.

Is there anyone who can give me a hint?
Thanks!
Filip

My situation was solved by changing the Nettype to Default.
I have some old habit to change the Nettype to TCP/IP Sockets.

    Hello,
    i have the same situation

'SERVERNAME' server can not be found. Try again later or contact your system administrator

The Server is a SQL 2008 R2 Server Standard Instance.
The Change to Default on Network does not work.
If the SQL Server is my own Notebook the connection works.
    The RTC has no Problem.
Try to connect to another network sql server does not work too.

NAV2009R2 Classic Client can connect to the same Servers.

    Have anyone a idea?

    Thanks in advance.
    Jürgen

Is the NAV 2013 server running on the same machine as SQL 2012? If not verify that you have enabled TCP/IP for SQL server and opened the port in the firewall.

There is no SQL 2012 in use, all Servers are SQL 2008 R2
    Firewall on all machines deactivated
The same Constellation (Same SQL Server/Same STR Server) with R2 works fine

This is the environment that works:
    All on Local Machine:
    ServiceTier/SQL (2008 R2)/Development Client/RTC

    Server 1:
    SQL Server 2008 R2
    Server 2:
    ServiceTier NAV 2013

    Local Machine:
    RTC Works
    Development does Not work

Have you used the installer is simply coping the C/SIDE to the machine?

It may be that you are missing the SNAC (SQL Native something Connector) version 10 which is necessary to connect to SQL, that we install during installation of C/SIDE from main installer. This can ber fixed manualy by running the sqlncli installers from "DVD\Prerequisite Components\Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express". Still the recomended and offical way to-do this is to run the official main installer "DVD\setup.exe".

I have used the installing procedure of the DVD, but the SQL Server was installed before
and the SQL Options where not used.
Other collegues has copied the client only and it works find.
Only my Notebook does not work.
    can i use the installer
    "DVD\Prerequisite Components\Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express"
or will be the express edition installed?

Yes you can use the sqlncli.msi and sqlncli64.msi from the directory without getting SQL 2012 express installed. The SQL 2012 express installer is called "SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.EXE".

the sql server service was stopped, installing sqlncli64.msi and restart.
The LookUp on the server where the database hosted return the error message:
