Warehouse and release order

Hello,
looking the post function in warehouse(both receipt and ship), there is a code where if posting date of order is less then posting date of warehouse receipt the sistem reopen the order, change posting date and release the document.
This activity need a lot of time (the order have 35000 line and i need to receive only one line).
My problem is : is necessary reopen and release the order ?
i have this dubt becasuse if i go to the order and change posting date i don't need to reopen and release document.
so there are two opportunity :
1- i can avoid to reopen and release order because is not necessary
2- it is necessary and so need a check to avoid that someone change posting date without reopen and release document.
