Print to file problems

When I try to make a file instead of a print, I use the "send to file" option
in WIN printer . The file is generated but I can't read it. There is no extension, so I cannot open the created files. I would wish to create word files. What can I do to make this possible ?
Thanks in advance

If you use send to file, it means, that all data which are normally send into printer, are sent into file. It is file with binary commands for the printer... no way to create WORD or another FILE!!!
You can only use General Text printer driver to get text file, or another PDF printer to get PDF file... no way how to use for example HP Printer driver to create Word file...0 -
Use automation to create a Word document.0

Or you can create a HTML and open it in Word.
It can be quite messy, but if you have a simple report, maybe it is a solution for you.0 -
I am using a simple pdf-printer driver to export Invoices and credit notes into an Archive it is very simple to use and everybody can open the files.0
