Hi all,
When I try to restore a NAV backup of a SQL-DB into a new SQL-DB I get the error
"You have to choose a company before you can use the Aging Band Buffer"
What am I doing wrong here?
I search the forum but no hit?
We are using SQL 2008 R2, DB is NAV 2009 R2 SQL Classic not RTC.
We cannot use the SQL-Backup and SQL-Restore because we use different Versions of the SQL Server (One is 2008R2 and the other is 2008). The 2008 Server is causing the problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

BTW: the error should not happen anyway, but I hope this fixes it.

thanks for your quick response.
The buffer table is empty.
This error is a very strange one because your answer does imply that all tables have to be empty and that is defenitely not possible
Yes, I'm trying to be sarcastic, 'cause this error is a pain in the neck. We need the backup and I have on solution
Any other ideas.

Another thing you can try is to create the new database on the new server (using NAV), creating the companies and link the servers in SQL (server objects=>Linked Servers). And then use this : http://mibuso.com/blogs/kriki/2010/03/24/downgrading-after-accidental-upgrade/

try to import the objects first, then import data into this new database.
thanks for your replies.
@Chinmoy: Yes, I tried another backup and I checked before that the table is empty, but no good. Same error.
@kriki and David: I try your proposals on Monday and give you feedback.
Thanks all.

all proposal did not work.
We gave up and bought SQL Server 2008 R2 and imported the SQL Backup.
What a waste and a pain in the neck.
Thank you all very much for trying to help.
