Navision Software is pleased to announce Navision Financials W1 2.60.
Navision Financials and Microsoft® Windows 2000
Navision Financials and Windows 2000 offer an ideal solution package for our target customers. The Windows 2000 Server allows IT administrators to serve users more efficiently. It will be of particular interest to organizations seeking a cost-effective, connected computing environment -- organizations like the ones found in our target mid-size market.
While Navision Financials 2.60 is designed to run on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform, it will still be able to run on the existing Windows operating systems. Therefore, Navision Financials 2.60 will bear the Windows logo for: Windows 2000 Server and Professional, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98 and Windows 95.
The main new features:
<ul>[*]<u>Active Directory - Helps IT Administrators Serve Users More Efficiently</u>
This feature allows IT personnel to control user settings organized by groups from a central location. It will save time and eliminate the headache and hard work of setting up user access rights for new employees (or when a user changes departments or upgrades to a new version). It also makes life easier for users because they only have to log in once to access all the programs that they use.
[*]<u>Microsoft Installer - New Installation Technology</u>
IT departments will be able to perform remote installations. There will be 3 installation programs - a Navision Financials Server, a Navision Financials Client that installs both SQL and native client, and a C/ODBC installation program. The user will have the option to install the help files and the demo database.
[*]<u>OnNow/ACPI - More Efficient Power Management</u>
This feature allows the client to disconnect from the server during sleep mode and connects the client again when sleep mode is terminated. This saves power and allows the user to reconnect quickly without having to sit through the whole log-in script.
[*]<u>Roaming Users - Multiple users on multiple computers</u>
This feature gives users the freedom to operate at any workstation with their personal settings. There will be support for multiple users on multiple computers.[/list]
Testing in Microsoft EMEA's Windows 2000 lab
All users of Navision Financials, including earlier versions, will benefit from the Windows 2000 platform. Navision Software is making sure that users can migrate from earlier versions to the latest Microsoft operating system. Testing has been carried out at the Microsoft/Compaq Windows 2000 Migration Laboratory.

This bug has been reported to Microsoft
K2
Period and Comma Confusion When You Use External Tools
If a NF database on SQL Server has a company or column name with contains a period ?.? then retrieving data is a problem. This bug has been reported to Microsoft
K3
Incorrect Prompt Appears When You Delete a Record

This will be corrected in a future release.
K4
Object Designer Is Not Updated When You Link It to Existing Objects

This will be corrected in a future release.
K6
Table ID Is Not Cleared When You Store It
When you create two new tables and save them with the same ID but with different names, then the first new table will be overwritten when you save the second new table. The following scenario illustrates the problem:
1. Generate a new table and save it.
2. Create another new table and try to save it with the same ID as the first one but with a different name.
3. Click 'No' when prompted about whether the existing object should be replaced.
4. Click 'Cancel' when prompted for ID and name for the table.
5. Close the table designer.
Now a dialog appears asking whether the table with ID and name entered in (2) should be saved. Saying 'Yes' here will overwrite the table created in (1).
This will be corrected in a future release.

This will be corrected in a future release.
K8

Filtering on records containing the character ?@? is problematic.
This will be corrected in a future release.
