SQL Server Intances and NAV Licences

Hi,

The link below states that: NAV licenses are loaded PER SERVER, and apply to all NAV databases on that server. I presume that for server we should read SQL Server Instance? So would it allow a seperate NAV licence per SQL Server instance (I presume) or for the whole server?

Thanks

Yes, that is true. However, each server instance can only have 1 prodcution database. Plus each server instance requires an independent license. Not a copy of the same license.

    From Microsoft:
Each Microsoft Dynamics NAV production database requires a separate Microsoft Dynamics NAV license file.
With one Microsoft Dynamics NAV license, you are allowed to run one Microsoft Dynamics NAV database. If you have multiple Microsoft Dynamics NAV production databases, you must purchase a Microsoft Dynamics NAV license for each database.
You are allowed to use a Microsoft Dynamics NAV license on copies of your Microsoft Dynamics NAV production database as long as the copies of the database are used for:
    Backup
    Storage of historical data
    Testing
    Internal use only development
The databases must not be used in production.
There are no bugs - only undocumented features.
