Rounding on original purchase, multiple uofm

The question is:
Client buys by the case- 20each, each being the base uofm.
The unit cost is calculated as 6.2455.
Based on the purchase price of 124.91 per case.
User can post in feb 2012
If the purchase was made in dec 2011. 1 case = 20each.
And the last each is sold from the case in Feb 2012, then when posting the sale, there is a rounding entry for the purchase.
If the user is not ready to close December inventory 2011, what can be done to prevent the posting from failing?
The posting fails, because the user only has access to Feb. 2012 posting dates.
If the inventory period is closed the rounding entry happens in the correct period.
