Hi,

I am trying to setup a test scenario on a local pc. My goal is to have a virtual machine on my pc, windows server 2003 with SQL and NAS Server, and after that connect from the host PC using RTC.

I already installed the VM, windows 2k3, SQL and the NAS server but I’m having problems adding my host windows user to the virtual machine...

I've already read the installations manuals and goggled but without success... My problem is that my pc it's on my company domain, and I’m unable to add the VM to that domain...

Is it possible to achieve this scenario? If yes, how come? How can i add the VM to the host pc domain and then add the windows logins to my database?

If anyone could help me, I’ll be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Regards
JM

First make it work with a local user and start RTC from the VM.

After that, you can try the "runas"-command to start the RTC from your host using the login from the VM.
Something like: runas /netonly /user:vmmaching\administrator "command to run"

Kriki thanks for your reply, but i allready made the test with local user on VM and it worked

My problem it's that i can't add the VM to the host domain, not even ping it from the host...

My RTC it's configured with Username Client Type, so i dont need to execute the runas command.

Is it possible to add the VM to the host domain??

If not, will it work if i create windows Logins in VM and then connect from the host RTC, with the created logins?

    Thanks

Yes VM can be added to domain. I am not a expert but you will need to modify the DNS setting of the VM to direct to Domain Server.

You should be able add any windows users on the VM and add them to NAV. When then running RTC you can use the "runas" command as krik says. It can be made more simple by simple right click on the RTC icon at the same time as you holding down "shift" and select "Run as other user". Since you are saying that you are using "ClientCredentialType" set to "UserName" according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg502478.aspx it could also be a firewall problem. Test to turn of the firewall on the VM to verify.
