Kitting and Lot No

I have an item that requires a Lot No. It has a KitBom associated with it (these items also have Lot Np. requirements).
Can I 'Assemble to Order' (i.e. created a sales order that select the KitBom item) and BuildKit by created a Lot No on the Sales Line?
