Is there a way to re-open closed accounting periods in NAV 5.01.

However, NAV does not block a period by accounting periods.
Posting documents in a closed year is possible.

Can you provide more information why you want to reopen ?
Even the Accounting period is closed , still system will allow to post the entries to closed period. Prior-Year Entry Field shows whether an entry was posted after the close of a fiscal year in G/L entry table .
