Navision Licensing and environments

My organisation is currently in the process of implementing NAV for front office functions, we have added 2 countries on the same instance. I have recently been asked if we can split the instances as one of the countries want a full system implementation while the other wants to keep within the original scope.

Is it possible to have multiple countries / languages on the same instance? If not, are licenses transferrable to another instance? I've received a quote for considerably more than the total project cost today to move 40 users off the current instance.

Has anyone done this before and are there any issues? The languages are German and English. I would appreciate any pointers on what to do.

You can do license splits, but the two companies have to be owned by the same parent company.

What do you mean by "instance"? Are you talking about translations or country specific localization?
