Navision Application Server (NAS) is a GUI less client for NAV. It is indepenent of other clients of NAV (RTC/Classic).

Hi
Just to be sure: NAS is a classic client without GUI and therefore does not connect with the middle tier, it connects directly to the db server. Hope this helps.
