Dim to Dim transfer

Hi,

I came across a scenario where the requirement seems to be intresting: I will put the scenario in simple lines:

a company has only one location, say LOCA

they have two dept's (global dim 1) as DIMA and DIMB

they are making purchases, they made receipts in DIMB and Invoices in DIMA,also they post some Item charge assigments in DIMA for DIMB receipts, simlarly there are some sales and consumptions

As per Inv val, they want to transfer all DIMA value to DIMB for certian items

I cannot post Item reclass but Item Ledger has Qty correct in DIMB, and value entry table is in DIMA.

I though of creating an extra fiedl in Value entry, as Temp Dim, copy all Global dim value to this field and through some batch job modify DIMA value to DIMB.

Later post a journal for inventory accounts to match the inv. val report

Any comments on this approach or anyother alternative way to correct this?

setup the dimension a on those items.
Then in Dimension Priority setup Item as higher priority. This way when they receive the goods items will come from DimA
