Maybe it's even better to read some documentes concerning the RTC.
Because based on your question it appears that you don't even know the capabilities of the RTC. (Have you ever worked with it?)

you can connect multiple database by creating multiple service tier for different database. Each service tier can be used to connect one database (if you dont want to change the service file).
And also how to connect Rtc with single database with multiple company's..
For changing company in Role Tailored Client, you can still use the same shortcut Ctrl+O to change company in RTC.
