XMLport text export

I have a xml text export for checks that is perplexing. The first element = text (GenJnlLineExports). Then I have the Gen Jnl Line table, and finally Integer table (to generate total line). If there is only one check to export, works fine. If there are multiple checks in the batch, I get the error- 'Could not process node GenJnlLineExports'. Any ideas?
