Specific Columns from excel to navision through dataport

Hi All

I have one query. My client given me a excel whose containing data in 250 columns. Now from these 250 coulmns only 5 columns are there which needs to import in nav through dataport eg. Coulmn no. 10,20,50, 100 & 240..Client dont want to extract these specific 5 columns into another excel, he want that we'll fix these coulmns in nav and nav should recognise the specific coulmns and import only those columns into nav.

Anybody please explain how we can do that. ](*,)

you have posted it in nav three tier, you want to do it through RTC or classic?

I want to do it through classic version.. And i want to import only specific 5 columns from excel into nav... Could you please explain why r u asking to create 250 dataports fields.

I think you need to import all fields to temptable and then import whatever fields you want to original table..

I never looked at that in detail, but I always thought it imported the entire Excel sheet into Navision before it then chooses which fields to use.

I haven't tried it myself - but I've looked at it in the past.
By the Picture it appears you can select the columns to import.
