NAV 5.00 database error, damaged area.

Hi all,

I ask about an error which appears in one of our customers. When we tried to make a status report of the database gives us a similar message to the following:

"There is a damaged area in the database. This error occurs when the database is altered by another program or device driver does not work well"

Some processes such as renaming a file or export key fob with some objects do not get done properly. What can we do? This client has a version of Dynamics NAV 5.00 ES, and is a native database. We have tried to copy the FDB file completely (making a backup also gives the error) and the errror still in the database.

Thanks in advance.

A greeting.

Get that database out of production asap.
Search in the backups for the latest working version.
Get all the data out of the database.
This requires instant action to minimize chances of data loss.

And copying the db won't do good: making a copy of an error will ofcourse produce the same error.

Try all version of back up module.
    1. Data Only
    2. Application Objects only..

In my case, data back up was done successfully, and i restored objects from another old back up file.
If don't have any object back up, try to export objects step by step and specify which one is damaged. Others would be fine to back up.
