In Version 5 and before you could backup while the database was in use. Is this possible if users are using the RTC. I have a client that the users hang when the backup runs. I am trying to determine if this is normal or unique to their enviroment.

SQL backup is no problem.
Native backup almost ALWAYS blocks other users or will be blocked by other users. You need to use SQL backups. (I have a trick to do native backups but only with Enterprise Edition SQL Server : http://mibuso.com/blogs/kriki/2011/03/22/making-a-native-backup-on-sql-and-not-blocking-anything/Regards,Alain Krikilion

Of course you can. The RTC means you have to be using SQL, and think about all the companies who have SQL databases that are in use 24/7/365. It would be a horrible DBMS if you couldn't
