Totals in a sorted report

I am trying to write a report based on the employee file with the Payroll Ledger as secondary. The report should print out in any sort order (Keys) available to the employee file. This works, but when I attempt to total by employee it works correctly only when the fields listed in GroupTotalFields equal the fields in the sort. It appears that I need to dynamically in code set the value of GroupTotalFields equal to the selected sort field(s). Is this possible, and if yes, what is the correct syntax? If this is not possible, any other ideas other that writing separate reports for each sort.
