How to restrict an text field in navision report

Table i m using is Purch. Comment Line and Sales Comment Line
Field is Comment
length is 150

but while making PO or PI
When i enter Comment through Comment Sheet Form then i want to restrict the user after the comment filed character has reached 100 with out changing the field length of Purch. Comment Line and Sales Comment Line

You can write

IF STRLEN(Comment) >= 100 THEN
  ERROR('More than 100 Characters.');

In Comment - OnValidate() trigger of both tables

Try to evaluate LEN of the Comment field after field validation like:

OnValidate()
IF LEN(Comment) > 100 THEN ERROR('Maximum length is reached!');

and you can probably (actually i don't remember if this property works together with MaxLength or with the field length) use AutoEnter property together with MaxLenght. It will change automatically the focus on the next line while the user is writing!

It works for us Set maxlength, Autoenter to yes & Nextcontrol of the comment field to the same id.

yup, it is! i don't think it would have made a lot of sense with fully user-customizable pages...

I Have written this code but the issue is when user types the comment when it reaches hundred it should throw an error.
In the above code, it allows to type the comment still the user does not comes on the next line then it throws error.


Can u suggest...
some other way

Did you try by setting MaxLength of Comment field to 100 in Form?
