As a client we want to design tables, forms and make changes on our own. We have in house developer recruited.

1.Which license (developer) would be suitable?
2. Is it possible that we have 12 users lic and 1 developer lic?
3. how much would be the cost?

Thank you.

    1. Your NSC can provide a description of each devolopment granule and recommend which would be appropriate for your needs.

    2. The granules would be added to your current license. You would not have a separate 'developer' license. The developer wound count toward the 12 users when working.

    3. See your NSC for details. Some are rather inexpensive while others can be quite costly.

There are mainly two granules that you can buy for development

    Application Builder 720 -
The Application Builder allows End Users to create new applications in NAV. Much like Add-Ons. All posting and other transactions that affect NAV protected tables must be done through the exitin functionality following standard NAV development rules. Application Builder allows you access to C/SIDE (F9) though out the system, so if you purchase Table designer and Application builder, then you can access the trigger code in those tables that you have access to. This also allows you to edit Codeunits.
As a pre-requisite you must first purchase ALL the Designers before you can purchase the Application Builder.

    Solution Developer 730 -
The Solution Developer granule is designed to allow access to the NAV base application, in fact this granule offers very little, it simply allows full access to modify NAV protected tables. But without access to those tables (G/L entry, Item Ledger Entry etc.) you then can't modify the associated code units, batch reports etc.
The pre-requisite to purchasing the Solution Developer license is to first have purchased the Application Builder.

There are also the various Object Designers plus the Developers Toolkit. Not to mention things like C/OCX

    Hi,

With the Solution Developer granule you can do most of what's required, including modification of posting codeunits. A drawback is that you need a thorough setup of the user rights. Without it the use of a C/AL license is risky. But if you have in-house developers the C/AL license is what I'd recommend.

    with best regards

While the Solution Developer will let you do many wonderful things, it can also open the door to complete disaster. Before deciding which design granules, you need to decide what sort of development you intend to do inhouse. Is the sky the limit? Or are you looking to keep it basic? The type of development will also drive the developer skillset and experience you are looking for. Whichh impacts cost. Will you have enough need to justify the ongoing expenses? These are not questions we can answer for you. But you need to answer them for yourself. There can be many advantages to having an inhouse developer, but an unplanned approach can have some unpleasant surprises.

Application Builder is what most company needs. If you want to be able to modify protected table, then you'll need solution developer.
