What is the use of Reason Code

I can see reason code can be used in many module, is there any example for apply it in a business case. e.g. it is for analysis? or a key for finding information?

Is there any standard report using reason for searching info e.g. list out all the GL entry which has reason code = xxxx?

Just want to clarify the use of reason code and its effect to system in functional and report area.

The Return Reason Code is also very useful for businesses that produce their own product.

Since you can enter whatever will fit into the Return Reason Code and it's description you could have MANY Return Reason Codes that are extremely descriptive, or you could simply have a few such as "DEFECTIVE" or "EXCHANGE" or "MISSHIP" etc.
