Navision Licensing - Lock Outs

Hello-
First - my apologies if this post is in the wrong location (I am utilizing Navision RTC)...and thank you for any light you might be able to shed on my issue.

I have found myself in a position where users are taking up multiple licenses and/or leaving hanging sessions on our server - and completely locking everyone out, including myself #-o . I was wondering if there was any way to reserve a license specifically for the "SA" account so that I do not find myself in a position where I am locked out by licensing issues. I would think it would make sense to have a feature such as this to ensure that the SA can get into the system in instances such as this - to clean up hanging sessions and see who the multiple session offenders might be. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

As SA you can log directly on SQL through SQL Managemnt Studio and do everything there... you can look at sessions through sessions view in the database, you can kill sessions through management etc... you do not need to use NAV for that...

Or you can use some tools to prevent logins when count of sessions is high. Search the forum for posts about preventing multiple logins for one user etc.

In cases like this, I always use SQL Server Management studio.

I also have a script running that kills idle sessions, so usually when I'm locked out, after a few minutes you can login.

Hi, this is great information - SQL script to ensure users don't use 2 sessions. Can you dedicate licenses? My problem is I have an offline POS which uses a licenses randomly throughout the day. When a sale is processed. It drops the license after this. The issue is my users are taking up all my license by Midday and thus my POS is having issues as it can't grab a license. I want to be able to dedicate a license to this POS user so there is always 1 available. thanks.
