Change of Application Method at customer card

Hello everyone,

if we change the application method(@customer card) from manual to apply to oldest, does this have any effect on the posted payments that has not been applied yet to any invoice?

I dont think there will be any effect on posted payments.
this will effect for future transactions..

Yes, the change affects the future transactions, but I thought it might be some tools or any function that applies existing open payments to the oldest of the invoices after we change appl method.
