Shadow Copy and Backup questions

Hi,
One of our clients is running Navision 3.6, native database.
They would like to know if it is possible to do a backup using wbadmin Shadow Copy without stopping and restarting the navision service.
As I don't know the answer, I'm asking you.
If it is not possible, is there a way to do a backup safely, without having to stop and restart the service?

No, this is not possible (i.e. there is no guarantee your backup will be good in the sense of giving a valid database after restore). In order to use Shadow copy on a database, the DBMS needs to be aware of shadow copies and flush memory buffers to disk before the shadow copy is frozen, such that the data on disk is in a consistent state. This is not the case with native Navision databases.
