Hi all.

I have to reinstall Native version 2.0 on a Windows SErver 2008 box.
I have got so close :)....
Created the Database and connected to it via a client on the server.
Got the service installed and running. (dont have to worry about host fiels and such as there is only one service).
(The service and the IP addfrerss both reply to a ping).
Then tried to connect the client to the service and get the followign error

"The operating system returned the error (87): The parameter is incorrect".

I know from the forums that this is normally an issue with the cache value.
However, i have been up and down the values from 150000 to 1000000 and can not get it to work.
Below is my last attempt.
server.exe servername=NavService, database=E:\Database\DB1.fdb, cache=500000, commitcache=yes, nettype=tcp, Installasservice

I can connect to the database by manual navigation so i dont see it as a permissions / sharing issue.

Oh, and the windows account is a domain admin so i cant give any higher permission.

Upgrading the client to a newer version isnt an option as there is no maintenance subscription...

Any ideas?>??

    Use Windows 2000 instead?

A little more elaborate than Denster: you have 3 options:
    1) use Windows 2000 on your server
    2) Update Navision to a newer client.
    3) install it in a Virtual machine with Windows 2000 and run that on your 2008 box.

    Hi Guys.

Thanks for the info and to be honest you have confirmed what i feared.
I know Microsoft only guarantee v5 and above on server 2008.
I thought i knew better and when i saw the service installed and replying i got all excited.

If no one has any other bright ideas then its over to the Technical Team for a server based solution...

    thanks
