what happened to setdata in the sales invoice report?

There are lots of hidden fields, but the one at the top left does not have setdata as described in blog entries

we can show data in Page header either by ReportItems by hiding the fields in Body or by using setdata.

I was following the blogs on how to make changes to the sales invoice report, and they referred to boxes at the top of the page header with setdata, but I could not find them.
It looked like they were using hidden fields in the body section of the report instead.

I was hoping to find a setdata example. Are there some reports that use it, or is it better to use hidden fields in the body and report items?
