Enabling Named Pipes on SQL Server

Hi experts!
In this document is an recommendation to enable Named Pipes on SQL Server when configuring for NAV 2009.

I have disabled it and it works without problems. Of course this is kind of a luxury problem, because actually we should be happy if it works at all
Anyway, does somebody know why it should be activated? Maybe for the query notification?

You don't need Named Pipe.
