Fixed Asset Management in USA

Hello All,
I tried to search the forum for this topic, but I could not find any related discussion. If you know about some previous discussion, please let me know.
I work for a worldwide company which has a subsidiary in the United States. I've been told that Fixed Asset in the U.S. is not handled very good because of local/state/federal taxes, which is changed regularly. I know nothing about the U.S. taxes laws and I don't know if that's true or not.
My question is: Is there somebody here working with Fixed Assets for the United States? Is this a solution inside Navision? Is there a need for special devolpment/customization?
I would appreciate any feedback on this issue.
