Adjust cost item entries takes hours to run

We have implemented NAV 2009 (No SP) with SQL server 2008 enterprise edition. It is installed on a server with 64 bit windows 2008 operating system. The server has 16 GB RAM.

The client is into distribution business with 35k SKUs with FIFO costing. When we run the Adjust cost entries batch job, it takes minimum 2 hrs for 500 items and for whole bunch its taking beyond imagination.

I checked the partner source for some possible hot fixes but could not find for world wide edition. What could be the possible issue with Adjust cost item batch job with SQL server?

Any help will be appreciated.

As written in another thread, upgrade your NAV 2009 w/o SP to SP1 (R2) version. There are many things corrected/changed.

Can you provide some more details on your system?

How large is the database?
What's the disk configuration of the server? And where is each of the database files?

Just curious: Why SQL Enterprise?

Agreed. I'd also get Windows and SQL fully updated while you're at it.
