Classic Client - NAV2009SP1 SQL

When making a change to an object (Report) and saving the compiled object, I get the following. "It is not possible to instantiate the Visual Studio bridge."

Posted information exist on several forums regarding this problem, when designing in Visual Studio. However I am working purely with the classic client.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

AFAIK the only "solution" is to install Visual Studio so that NAV gets access to the "bridge".

You are likely changing an object that has a "layout" (View Layout) which NAV then needs VS to compile.

If you really do NOT want the layout and don't mind removing it from a standard report object then I s'pose you could try to open the report in the classic client and then under "Tools" select "Delete layout". Then maybe you can save/compile the object without having VS installed.
